Chad’s Birthday Dinner on a Boat

August 17, 2015
Blog- Dinner on a Boat

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

OK, ladies. How many times have  you been stuck thinking about a birthday present for your husband?? I bet many times!  Chad and I have been together for many years and coming up with unique gift ideas get challenging each year. I’m normally pretty good with creative birthday ideas; but, this time, I struggled.  So, I asked Chad what he wanted for his birthday (which is the first time by the way that I ever asked!).  He was no help!  The answer, “Whatever you want, baby” doesn’t help.  Or, “It doesn’t matter as long as I have you.” was not the right answer either! Well…I thought of an idea that many “Chicagoans” have done, but Chad hasn’t experienced. It’s a birthday dinner on a boat cruise. We’re lucky that Chicago has a handful of boats that cruise along Lake Michigan.  I threw out the idea and he LOVED it!  I didn’t waste a minute and reserved two tickets. I couldn’t wait for his birthday to celebrate on the boat.

Well, his birthday came and the experience on the boat was rather disappointing. It wasn’t what I remembered it to be.  Although Chad, as always, was appreciative of the gift – quite frankly the service could’ve been better. Since we are a pretty optimistic and positive couple – Chad and I tried to make the best of the night.  There was a DJ on board and he requested one of my favorite songs, “The Way You Look Tonight” by Michael Buble (originated by Frank Sinatra). When the song played, Chad took my hand and we held each other tight. For a moment, we forgot about our disappointments and just thought of how fortunate we are to have each other.

Could I Really Be This Lucky?

August 12, 2015
text1

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

I want to share a text response from my mom to Chad after he had sent her a “thank you for your hospitality” text message after our visit with her last weekend. As I read through her text, I thought, “Could I really be this lucky to have a mother who is a remarkable, kind-hearted and generous person; who loves Chad like her own son?”

Hi Chad,

I am relieved to know that you and Zoe landed safely in Chicago. Your message was heart-felt. I will hold it close, which will serve as an everlasting bond between you and me.  Having you over the weekend made me further realize how lucky I am to have you as my son-in-law. I want to thank you for being there for Zoe, who like you, never failed to amaze me in many ways. I may be hundreds of miles away but the love I hold for you will have a big place in my heart. I love you like my own.

Romantic Wedding Vows

August 7, 2015
Blog- Romantic Wedding Vows

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

I don’t know why I’m feeling sappy today … maybe because next month, Chad and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. It brings so much joy in my heart.

Here’s my favorite romantic wedding vow from the movie, “The Vow”.  The Vow is an inspired true story of Leo (Channing Tatum) as he attempts to woo his newlywed wife Paige (Rachel McAdams), who has amnesia after miraculously awaking from a deep coma.  Among a montage of flashbacks at the beginning of the movie, we get a glimpse of the newlywed’s vows, which were the “real  vows” exchanged between script writer Marc Silverstein and his wife, actress Busy Philipps, in 2007.

Paige: I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness and to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they are not, to agree to disagree on red velvet cake, and to live within the warmth of your heart and always call it home.

Leo: I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. And to always know in the deepest part of my soul that no matter what challenges might carry us apart, we will always find our way back to each other.

Who Wouldn’t Want a Wedding Album?

July 31, 2015
Blog - Who Wouldnt Want 3

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

Last Sunday, Chad and I attended my friend’s wedding.  It was lovely and intimate.

While waiting for the wedding ceremony to start, I noticed another couple who had just gotten married taking photos with their photographer (and an assistant shooter) by the church’s garden. Because we have an online wedding album business, my first instinct is to wonder if the bride and groom hired the photographer and included a wedding album with their photography package. I told Chad that I wanted to talk to the assistant shooter and ask him out of curiosity. Of course, he didn’t stop me at all.

How Long Does It Take To Produce A Wedding Album?

July 20, 2015
Blog- London

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

I just got an email from Rosie, a newlywed from New York. She was just married to the man of her dreams six days ago and they’re about to begin a month-long honeymoon trip in Europe.

Some members of Rosie’s family are living in London and were not able to attend her wedding here in the US. They are very excited to see her photos when she visits them in one of their honeymoon stops in the UK.

Their scheduled Europe trip will happen in 28 days or in 4 weeks! So Rosie wants to find out if her wedding album will be ready by then if she decided to order one from Yours Truly today.

A lot of you might be in similar situation. Or you just want to know how soon can we finish your wedding album.

  • Spend more time with our friends Yup – we have our monthly calendars in check!
  • Begin our plans to move into a new home to start a family – Yikes…no movement here! Still “on the fence” with the whole “baby thing” – we need to get YoursTrulyWedding Albums really solid and off the ground.

Number of Photos in a Wedding Album

July 11, 2015
Blog - Number of Photos in a Wedding Album

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

It’s a great day for another Q&A here on the blog. Feel free to ask anything about weddings, relationships, marriage, and our favorite topic… wedding albums. I will try to provide you with the best answers!

And so without further ado, here’s another question we got straight from our email.

Question: How many photos should be included in a wedding album?

Answer: I would like to say that sky is the limit! That’s your album and it’s your own special memories that you want to preserve so it’s your call.

However, we have to put into consideration the cost that’s needed to make your album. It makes sense that the more photos, the more pages and spreads are required so the price of your album would be higher.

When to start working on your wedding album

July 6, 2015
Blog - When to Start Making a Wedding Album

Dear Yours Truly Readers,

I received a direct message from one of our  Facebook page followers. She was asking about the perfect time to start her wedding album. I realized that answering this question would be a great start to an interactive new section here on our blog.

Question: When is the perfect time to start working on a wedding album?

Answer: I would say as soon as you receive your images from the photographer. I agree that the new couple should be given a chance to celebrate their first few days together uninterrupted. But as soon as you’re back from your honeymoon, and you have received your images, it would be great to start working on your wedding album right away.

A wedding album’s main purpose is to keep the memories (and the feelings) from your wedding day preserved. It’s  visual storytelling of what happened during your big day. Plus, when the events are still fresh in your memory, it’s easier to choose which photos are most important to have in your album.

How was Father’s Day?

June 24, 2015
Blog- Zoe Father's Day

Dear Yours Truly Readers

Father’s Day for me is not like it use to be nor how I used to celebrate it. As you know, I lost my dad many years ago. I miss him so much, particularly during the holidays and most especially on Father’s Day.

I called my mom that day. She was not home. As I guessed, she visited him at his memorial site and offered flowers…white flowers.  Not long after, she called me back and told me what she did (as I already expected what her morning activities were).

Between me and my mom, we have an “inside joke” of greeting her  “Happy Birthday” when it’s my or my brother’s birthday honoring the day that she gave birth to us. 🙂
