I had a great night with my girlfriend last night over food and wine.
She gave me an update on her married life of five years and her two year old toddler.
Life has been hard for her, or should I say marriage has been hard which makes everything around her complicated.
It’s the typical story of a couple so in love when they were “boyfriend/girlfriend” or even “each other’s fiancé”. But, after five years and a toddler, marriage has not been the same.
Dear Yours Truly Readers,
On one of the nights last week, I had an “alone” time when Chad met some of this out-of-towner friends in downtown Chicago.
With a take-out Pizza and a glass of wine, I decided to watch an old movie, one of the classics, When Harry Met Sally. For those who have not seen this movie…go watch it!
It’s one of my favs. It triggered funny moments about how Chad and I would go through all of our “quirks” and laugh about them until our belly hurts.
What I love most about the movie, other than it’s one of the funniest romance comedy movies I’ve ever seen, is introduction a “high-maintenance” girlfriend. But, the crazy thing is between me and Chad, HE is the “high-maintenance” partner than me!
We named about 20 plus quirks that he has versus my 3! Go figure.
Call me old fashion…yes, I LOVE Barbara Streisand! Well…Chad thinks I should have been born in the 50’s since everything about the 50’s I JUST LOVE! (Although…Barbara Streisand wasn’t exactly popular in the 50’s!).
On my flight back from visiting my mom, I listened to Barbara Streisand’s newest album “Partners” on my iTunes. There have been many renditions of these types of song styles where well-known artists sing with other well-known artists such as Frank Sinatra’s and Tony Bennett’s Duet.
I’m sure you’ve heard Tony Bennett’s “It Had to be You” but sang by Streisand and Michael Buble?
It Had to Be You
It had to be you, it had to be you
I wandered around and finally found
Somebody who could make me be true
Could make me be blue or even be glad
Just to be sad, thinking of you
Some others I’ve seen, might never mean
Might never be cross or try to be boss
But they wouldn’t do for nobody else
Gave me a thrill with all your faults I love you still
It had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you
Although its 3 weeks away from Thanksgiving, I need to plan for a menu of dishes that I’d like to cook for our friends and family.
I want something different than the traditional Turkey. So I thought of serving each of my guest roasted stuffed Cornish Hen glazed with infused honey balsamic marinade. Any unique ideas for side dishes? Please comment below! I need your help!
Dear Yours Truly Readers,
I visited my mom over the weekend for an early Thanksgiving celebration because this year, we will spend the actual Thanksgiving Holiday with Chad’s family.
While my mom was prepping for last minute touches on décor before our guests arrive, I shuffled through some old photos of my grandparents, although the photos weren’t stored in any special ways – most of them survived through the test of time. I LOVE looking at them. And each time I do, I always thought how my mom and I look exactly alike when we were growing up.
The one picture that caught my eye was my great grandparents wedding picture. My mom is the lucky great grandchild who kept all old photos. Or perhaps, amongst all her siblings, she was the most sentimental one. 🙂
I admire the vintage style of weddings and everything about it! My grandma’s gown was spectacular- simple cut neckline, simple silhouette, simple soft fabric: just simply elegant!
Aaahhh… The best thing about November in Chicago is how the leaves have turned amber with some, still hanging in the trees, and some have fallen. The kids in our neighborhood love playing with the mounds of leaves freshly raked.
There are a lot of November wedding plans going on. At YoursTrulyWeddingAlbums.com, our favorite photos are Fall Weddings when the wind is crisp and cool, and the background is a perfect photo opportunity!
If you visit your website, you will notice that the background shots were taken during the Fall season. I suggest that you choose one of the great cover choices we have to match your Fall wedding.
Our album designers will create captivating designs that will highlight the beauty of your best wedding photo on the cover!
…accept it with open arms.
I’m lucky that I have known love in its purest sense of its word by seeing my parent’s marriage so strong and everlasting.
I’ve experienced it (and still continue to) with Chad. And, love struck me really hard. I wouldn’t want to let it go nor lose sight of it. I’ve found my true love. He is my soul. And, between the two of us, our hearts will forever remain committed. Although people say that we have no control over where our hearts take us… I somehow don’t believe it. What I believe is that in this world love is given to each of us; we should never stop nurturing it and discovering the wonders of it. You should love each other wholeheartedly and everything else will come its way naturally.
On our (Chad) way out from a museum we toured last Sunday, we passed by its Gift Shop. While waiting for Chad to pick-out a book he wanted to buy, I browsed through the shop’s greeting cards department.
I’m sure you’ve seen gondola stands of cards for all sorts of occasions. As I spun the gondola, a card caught my attention at the “Friendship” and “Encouragement” section with a quote:
“When you cry, I’ll dry your tears. When you fall, I’ll pick you up. When you rise up, I’ll rise with you. And, if you move on, I’ll always be here for you when you need me again.”
I had chills when I read it. Now…that’s friendship. I bought the card and that night, I gave it to Chad before we went bed. I kissed him good night and whispered “I will always be here for you.”
Aaahh… One of my weekend thoughts was to take Chad to a couple’s spa! So last weekend, we booked a spa package that neither of us have experienced before. Here’s the description on their treatment menu:
TENDER EMBRACE COUPLE’S RITUAL. This romantic ritual was designed for couples to share an intoxicating experience in one of our luxurious grand suites. Embark on a private journey together, beginning with an invigorating salt scrub followed by a candle-lit soothing bathing ritual in exotic oils and an indulgent 50 minute full-body massage side by side. Chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine will be served to conclude your experience!
Seriously?!? It was all worth it. Chad and I walked outside the spa’s veranda (still wearing our robes) and enjoyed our glass of sparkling wine. We talked for a few hours until it was time to say goodbye to this magnificent place called “heaven”!
Dear Yours Truly Readers,
In June, I wrote a blog titled, “Color of the Year – Marsala”, to tie it with our leather colors at YoursTrulyWeddingAlbums.com leather choices for your wedding albums covers.
Last month, Chad and I attended a seminar for business owners in the wedding industry. Not that I’m surprised to hear that “greige” is the “in” color of wedding themes; but, I was happy to hear (and see) the creativity of color palettes that the wedding industry has inspired for the brides and grooms.
So, “greige” is the new “grey” or the new “beige” – love it! We saw about three companies with employees wearing “greige” colored t-shirts. It’s pretty cool.
